Christian Counselor Recommends a Book about Dr. Albert Schweitzer
I just finished reading a biography of the life of Dr. Albert Schweitzer.
Written by George Marshall, it was for a page turner. Dr. Schweitzer was a fine organist and a specialist in the music of Bach. He was a lecturer at a university. At age 30 he decided to go to medical school. Upon graduation he founded the first hospital within a thousand miles of its location in his beloved Lambarene in what was at that time French Equatorial Africa. He worked there for the rest of his life until he died at age 90.
He was a friend of Albert Einstein and he was awarded the Nobel Prize. His philosophy was reverence for life.
Here is a documentary and award winning film about his life. It is also available in short segments on youtube.
