Is Jesus God?

This is a very important question, but it is also one that is between a soul and its Maker. Perception is a very delicate thing, and when we must not mess with people's perceptions. Who Jesus is is indeed important, but it is something you  must discover for yourself not because I, or anyone else, says so.

Was it Jean Jacques Rousseau who said that "man (people) is born free, but everywhere he is in chains." Freedom is a rare commodity in this world. Most people on the planet live under a dictatorship. I could go down the long list of countries under the rule of some sort of political, religious, or ideological dictatorship. Tyranny is everywhere.

And tyranny is not just political. There is also educational dictatorship, religious dictatorship, economic tyranny, medical tyranny, cultural tyranny, political correctness tyranny, and bureaucratic tyranny.

In fact, many homes are ruled by tyrants--a crazy mom, an alcoholic dad, a mom who always has to be right and never admit she is wrong, or ruled by some letter of the law rigidity.

In how many homes are kids not allowed to see what they see? One kid came home and said that a class was boring. His mom said that he was wrong, that he was just lazy and not applying himself. One child saw that dad had some egg on his cheek, laughed with glee, and pointed it out. For this she received a backhand across the face and was told to "wipe that grin off your face."

In another family, everyone has to say that whatever mother does is good. No one is allowed to see otherwise. If someone says that something she did was not good, the comment is denied and discounted. The family member is accused of being unfriendly or a trouble maker. Many a child has been driven insane and his or her selfhood stamped out by having his or her perception of truth destroyed.

What do you think that denial is? It is denial of reality. There are millions of drunks in the world who deny reality with booze. But there are also tyrannical parents, grand parent, baby sitters, teachers, bosses, and the list goes on and on of people who want to be seen in a good light and who never want to admit they are wrong.

So what do you think of someone who forces the notion that Jesus is God upon others?

Shouldn't a person be permitted the space to see for himself or herself who Jesus is or is not?

It is said, and Jesus Himself said, that He came to set us free.  If this is the case, would not He give you the space to see for yourself the truth about Him?

A true representative of Jesus would never try to force you to accept something. Nor would he use manipulation, threats, or cheap tricks to get you to accept something. Jesus came to set us free, and one of the things He came to set us free from is tyranny of any kind.

Is it not sheer joy for a child to discover the wonders of nature, for example? Is it not a delight to hear a good (clean) joke and get it?

Is there not a quiet joy in discovering how to solve a type of math problem?

If this is the case, should it not be sheer joy, and received with awe and wonder, to discover Who Jesus is?  Might He not quietly reveal this most delicate and wonderful thing to the soul within?

Over and over again in the Scriptures, the very Scriptures that today's Sadducees and Pharisees claim to believe in, Jesus referred to Himself as the Son of God. Over and over, He referred to God as His heavenly Father. He said "Of myself, I can do nothing. It is the Father Within Me Who doth the works."

It is as plain as the nose on their faces; yet they take advantage of the fact that there are different translations of the Bible, errors, and not a complete Bible, to cherry pick some verse and then ram it down your throat.

It says in the Bible "the letter killeth but the Spirit giveth life."

I have always been a searching person and always had an interest in religion. But thank God that I somehow was given the grace to not jump to some conclusion nor was I forced to accept something that I would later feel an obligation to keep affirming. Instead I went about my life of discovery, and after age 40 began to see for myself, thank God, the truth about things, without the pressure of someone one the outside, thank you.

This Jesus is God controversy creates nothing but confusion in the minds of millions, and because of subtle or overt pressure, people are not allowed to see what they see. A false Jesus  is set up by false teachers who make him into a tempter who accepts the fallen sinner who goes on sinning just as he is. Our sins are excused away and he accepts our prideful egos and caters to us.

Some people like the idea that they can go on sinning and have someone accpet them back over and over, just like an enabling wife accepts  a drunken womanizing husband comes crawling back to her over and over again.

Others just don't feel comfortable with being forced to say that Jesus is God (He never claimed this Himself).

But those who sincerely want to see the truth for themselves are not given the space and the time, sometimes lots of time, to wait to discover for themselves.

God save us from the pressure mongers.

Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.  1 John 3:8-10

"When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven."              Matthew 16:13-17   KJV
