Wake Up and Live

"Why should I listen to your radio program? Why should I check out your meditations?"

Good question.

Here's what I know for sure:

Most people are confused and upset; or they are too emotional and follow wrong ideas.

Listening to my radio lectures is good for you, and you might decide to try one of our meditations to calm down, de-stress and get centered.

Most people are too emotional.
Many people's peace of mind and health are adversely affected by anger and resentment they are harboring.
Most people get upset too easily.
Most people are lost between their own two ears. They are lost in study, lost in fantasy images, reliving the past or worrying about the future.
Lost in study, thinking, and fantasy, most people have lost touch with reality.
They miss the golden moments of the present. They try to apply some notion that someone gave them or what their tricky imagination tells them to a real life situation and it only makes things worse.
Most people have also lost touch with their intuition.
Most people don't know where to find God.

Many Christians, and I say this with love, have a fantasy relationship with God or Jesus, but not the real thing.

What I believe:

If people could calm down and put their emotions on idle; and if they could get out of study, imagination and worry; and most importantly if they could relocate and listen to their intuition again--they would discover a natural control over emotions, and they would discover an easier spontaneous way of living.

I also believe that having set aside an unnatural fixation to study, excessive emotions, and fantasy--they could begin to discover reality based answers to life's most important questions.
In other words, the truth about anything is discoverable when emotions and notions are put on hold.

I believe it is good for a person to calm down and de-stress. And it is good for the person to learn how to control emotions in a natural way.

The simple meditation offered at the Center for Common Sense Counseling helps a person calm down.

Secondly it shows you how to mentally stand back from negative thoughts and emotions and observe them. By observing them from your calm center of dignity, you are no longer subject to them. Now you can watch them dissolve. The meditation also shows you how to carry a detached observant awareness out into the world, so you can observe people and situations without becoming upset by what you see.

2. In order to know the truth about yourself, your purpose, how to love others unconditionally, how to find out about God--if He exists, and about Jesus, Who He might really be--a person must once again look to intuition.

The meditation helps you calm down, so you are less involved in emotions and imagination. Now with a quieted consciousness, you can once again sense your intuition.

Intuition is what you know deep down in your heart. You had your intuition when you were a little child, but when you became upset, emotional, angry and then ambitious, you lost touch with it. Now you don't even know if it exists or how to find it.

This is only because you are lost in emotion and the squirrel cage of thinking. Once you calm down, you can re-find your intuition and begin to sense in a wordless way what is true and what is not true.

Pulitzer prize winning author Ernest Hemingway was asked what you need to be a good writer, and he answered: ‘The most essential gift for a good writer is a built-in, shockproof, bleep detector."

Ernest Hemingway is right. That's what we need in life. He's talking about intuition.

Sensing when others are scamming you or deceiving you is your intuition. Trust it.

When something makes you go left instead of right because you sense danger to the right, it is your intuition. Trust it. Trust your gut.

When your common sense tells you something--you just see that something makes sense or doesn't make sense or you just see that something is wise to do or dumb to do, and you can't say why you know but you just know--that is common sense.

And common sense is intuition. Common sense is the most basic form of wisdom.

Moses, Christopher Columbus, Einstein, and Faraday, all followed hunches--they just somehow knew something. It was their intuition.

Now if hunches can lead a discoverer or inventor to success, if your gut can warn you of danger in a dark alley, help you see through some scam, and if common sense helps you make wise basic decisions--then perhaps this same faculty of intuition could also inform you about your purpose in life, whether or not there is a God, Who Jesus is, and what path to follow in life.

It could inform you about the little things in life and the big ones too. If it can warn you of some danger (trust your gut) then perhaps it can also instruct you wordlessly about some error you might be making with your kids or your partner. It might help you find peace of mind.

Why follow some psychic, some expert, some stranger, some professor, some minister or guru, when your intuition is your true lode star?

Now we come back to what I said before--right now you are lost in thinking, confused, emotional, reactive, and you rarely sense the delicate promptings of intuition.

So the first thing to do is try one of our meditations to
calm down and de-stress,
become less upset and reactive,
relocate your intuition and start paying attention to it

What I do

I make you aware that you are too emotional. I remind you about intuition.
I provide the simple meditation to calm down and become centered.
I offer some tips about how to hold on to the calm centered way of being.

Then I mostly point out errors--to make you aware of them (like I made you aware that you get upset too easily) and so that you can see them for yourself. So you can realize and intuit what is true or not true for yourself.

I do not talk about truth so much as I point out error.
If I were to talk to you about religion, God and so on--it would just get mixed in with your emotional preconceptions and wouldn't do do any good.

I'm not going to tell you Who God is or Jesus. I prefer to just help you wake up, become less emotional, find your intuition, and then discover for yourself.

Then you will know the truth not because someone told you so, but because you see that it is so. That is faith.

That's why my meditation, my radio program and my writings are excellent for sincere seekers no matter what they currently happen to be.

I don't care if you are an atheist, a drug addict, homeless or a billionaire, a Buddhist, a Christian or anything in between. I don't look up or down to anyone.

If you happen to be of the Christian persuasion, and you are not a Bible thumper, but an honest seeker of truth, then calming down, being less upset, and getting centered will help you be a better Christian.

And if you happen to see for yourself and really know deep down in your heart that the things you have accepted on a surface or emotional level are true (because you see for yourself), then it will help your religion come alive!

Many Christians, and I said with love earlier, have a fantasy relationship with God or Jesus, but not the real thing.

Mahatma Gandhi once said "I admire Christ but not Christians." I think what he was saying is that the teachings of Christianity sounded nice to him, but that he had never met a real Christian.

I would say that most people who are not Christians have never met a real Christian. So they have gotten a bad impression of Christianity.

Most people are confused about God and religion. What they think they know about God and Christianity, for example, is a hodge podge of what they have been told (for or against), cultural biases, misinformation, and external ideas or doctrine.

Some people are atheists or agnostics because they hated some person they observed who was Christian in name only. Others are atheists or agnostics because their friends or college professor are too. Others have ideas about God that they got from others--parents, teachers, professors, friends, the Internet or television.

Many are confused about who Christ is. Worse yet, some try to pressure you with what they have been told--for or against.

Some say Christ is God and try to force that idea on you. Others are turned off to Christianity because they are told they have to accept that Christ is God and they just don't see it that way and are thus forced to reject Christ and Christianity.

The Center for Common Sense Counseling California is devoted to helping people find their spiritual roots.

Something has gone wrong in everyone's life. They are stressed out and out of control People do dumb things and later wonder why.

People become upset, resentful, angry and then depressed. They don't want to be.

People want to get back on an even keel, stop being upset all the time. And learn how not to be angry and resentful. People what peace of mind and more

Most people gradually begin to realize that spirituality or religion would somehow play a part in getting better permanently. People sense this deep down. They have tried romance, drugs, study, and music, emotional positive thinking, exercise, and everything else. But something is still missing.

Some people have never had anything to do with religion, but they have come to susupect that somehow religion might be the key to solving their relationship and emotional problems.

Other people were raised in a family where there was a spiritual tradition--i.e. they were raised a Buddhist, a Christian, or something. They may have gone to ceremonies or church since the time of childhood and may have been confirmed or married in a church.

But it has been a cultural thing or a social thing. They went along but it never made much difference in their life.

Others were raised in some tradition, but were turned off by the hypocrisy of those who practiced it.

Some people, sensing something wrong in their lives, got involved in religion-- perhaps "getting saved," "giving their life to Christ, inviting Christ into their heart," joining a men's or women's accountability group and so on.

But as time went by, and although things were in fact better, something was still missing. Something was still wrong.

Then there are people who "get religion," get involved in a faith base community, go to church, read the scripture and so on - but they feel like a fraud. They still sneak a drink or smoke, or take drugs or look at naughty pictures. They still fight with their husband, gossip, and feel depressed. They still have doubts.

Such a person may make the mistake of thinking that he or she is no good, and then throw in the towel and feel unworthy. Such a person might go back to a life of drugs or drink.

Some such people go back and forth. They get better and then fall off the wagon. They say they are saved and then they backslide.

Here is the important point. Some people are just not satisfied with half truths, surface religion, and they sense that they are missing the mark. These types of people have been acquainted with phoniness, and they are quick to perceive it in other and in themselves.

They want the real thing and will accept no substitutes. Although everything and everyone they ever tried was shallow and failed them, they still are looking for real spirituality and real answers. I love these people.

In fact some of these people don't even want anything to do with religion or spirituality as they have known them. They just want the truth. They want real answers.

"Okay Roland. I get it. You want me to listen to your lectures and check out the meditation. Do I need to talk to you?"

How about just listening to my radio programs. They are free. Each week I discuss a topic (like how to not be angry, how to forgive and forget, how to calm down, etc). I also mention resources like the meditation.

Go to the archives and pick a program out that looks interesting and listen to it.

Listen to some others and then listen to the new program every week. Your life will improve and you may start to understand yourself and others better.

At some point you can also try the meditation.

just made a new 5 minute meditation stress fix (with a 20 minute lecture and 12 secrets to living a calm spiritual life). You can try it right away.
Or you can wait and listen to me on the radio for awhile. There is no hurry.

If 3 or 6 months from now your life is better and problems are dropping away, then you can make a donation to help me stay on the air and help others.

If at some point you have something you would really like to ask me about then just go to Liveperson and email me there or telephone or chat me there. My lectures, the meditation, and reading my books is very likely to be enough. In fact, the meditation may be all you need. It contains all the elements needed. It puts you back in touch with yourself. Everything else is gravy.
